Since we did not have either, we went to Sector-18 and found a parking spot easily (Tuesday is a very light day as most of the shops are closed). As we walked to the building hub, we saw a new sign behind still-in-progress scaffolding. There seemed to be a new place called “Our Story“. Having been to all the restaurants in that lane, except this one, we reluctantly walked towards the door and asked the security guard if the place was open. He welcomed us warmly.
Our Story is a bright new cafe and tea-room spread over two storeys, next to Karim’s in Sec-18, Noida. The ambience was bright and pleasant, just as we like it. It was their first day of operation, we realized! Now, even more vary of how it was to turn out, we found a spot (it wasn’t difficult – we were perhaps one of their first guests) and sat down.
The space was clean and had an interesting corner of books, games and puzzles along with bright stools. We asked and were explained the concept separately. They work on the lend-one-take-one model. So as you arrive and order your food, you can browse through the books and goodies. If you like a book, you can borrow it. Take it home, return whenever. Also bring along books and games that you’d like to lend to Our Story. Interesting and baggage free.
The decor was beautiful with emphasis on cups, kettles, wood and birds. All things that make you feel warm, welcome and at home. The wall art was all hand painted and impressive too.
The menu had different sections for starters, bakes, pizzas & pasta, main course, beverages and desserts.
We asked for recommendation from the host waiting us and as suggested ordered two dishes. The first one, Chicken Pot Pie was a delicious bake of chicken breast, vegetables in white garlic sauce, served with garlic bread but the real winner was the other dish that the restaurant insisted that we tried. It had an unimpressive name like Bunny Chow and we were very skeptical. But boy, some dish it was. A whole 6″X6″ bread loaf filled with excellent chicken. It came with salsa, mint chutney and onions.
Our Story does not serve liquor but the mocktails that we had – peach iced tea and watermelon juice – were both very nice.
The average cost of meal for two is between Rs. 1000-1300 and portion sized are decent. In all very fair price for the quality of food and the ambience.
In all 4.5 out of 5.
