Modi met senior Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Army officers after landing at air base. The chief target of the terrorists was the air base itself in a pre-dawn attack.
Upon the prime minister Modi’s visit, tight security was arranged to avoid any mishappening. No one was allowed to enter the area near the Air Force Station (AFS), located 250 km from Chandigarh.
Six terrorists and seven security personnel were killed in the attack.
However, due to the repulsion of the attack by the Security forces , the terrorists were unable to harm any of the IAF’s critical assets, including fighter aircraft and attack helicopters.
