Zuckerberg plans two months’ leave for daughter’s birth

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is all set to take two months’ leave from his workfront in order to spend with his daughter when she is born, he wrote in a personal post to nearly 42 million followers on November 20.

“Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families,” Zuckerberg posted, sparking a fury of responses and nearly 70,000 likes in just an hour.

However, Zuckerberg did not reveal about when his daughter is due.

He will be taking about half the four months of leave Facebook typically offers to new parents.

Facebook policy even allows him take another two months during the first year of his daughter’s life.

The other rivals,in contrast, Netflix allows up to a year, Google up to 18 weeks and Microsoft 12 weeks, reported.

Over the past few years, the Facebook founder has typically posted on Zuckerberg’s Facebook profile about his work, his philanthropy and his dog, Beast.

This year in july,Zuckerberg announced that he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, were expecting their first child – a girl.

“Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own,” Zuckerberg posted at that time.
